Brunnera, “Jack Frost”

The first perennial bloom of spring and a foliage mind-blower.

So special! Gets pretty tall, upward to 12-24”, as the periwinkle blue flowers are held on delicate wispy stems above the exotic heart-shaped leaves.

Easy to grow and hardy even in these harsh northern winters, as long as you give it what it needs: decent airy soil, reliable moisture, and afternoon shade.

I grow It in a large planting at my back gate, which is the main entrance to Sweet Home Allegra. The foliage remains beautiful through the summer and fall.

At the urging of my sister Kate, I am adding a few garden favorites to the blog. ❤️ This is the first!!
